Senior citizen Ramesh Chandra Singh and his wife were held captive and robbed by a group of men late on Wednesday at Kukrah Panchayat under Chitra Police Station in Deoghar. Both were even beaten up by the villains just for not cooperating with them. There were half a dozen miscreants and they were all masked with cloth.
Talking to the media, SDPO Sarath Dhirendra Narayana Bank confirmed the incident. He said four miscreants broke into the house of Ramesh Chandra around 2 am on Thursday. They beat them and looted the valuables kept in the house. On the basis of the victim's statement, the police registered the case and started activities with the aim of catching the culprits.
Speaking to the media, Pappu Singh, the victim's son, claimed that the robbers looted property worth Rs 6 lakh including cash and jewellery. Locals informed him about the incident and he was then able to inform the police. Pappu Singh said that his old father and mother were brutally beaten. She was trapped in a room after being stripped of any jewelry she was wearing.
It is noteworthy that both seniors stayed at home alone.
